2021 marks a milestone for Pridham’s Auctions & Appraisals, as the company celebrates its tenth year as a well-established and thriving business in Ottawa.

Robin Pridham, chairman of the auction house, has been an industry leader for thirty-five years. He is a graduate of the oldest auctioneer school in North America, Reppert’s Auction School (Indiana, USA), and a member of the National Auctioneers Association. Pridham’s specializes in the sale of valuable items such as fine and decorative arts, Canadiana, silver, jewelry, and militaria.

Pridham says he is proud of the work his company has done over the past ten years, especially the high level of trust he and his team establish with their clients. Surrounded by leading experts, Pridham and his team constantly conduct in-depth research, go through a rigorous appraisal process and record market trends to ensure fair prices. Pridham’s high standards ensure that customers will receive a fair review and a positive experience when they visit the local auctioneer.

Operating from its four thousand square foot gallery on Lancaster Road, Pridham sources rare works of art and treasures from estates and individuals who wish to sell their works in the international art market.

“We are an international art auction house. We are proud of it. We have customers in every major city around the world, ”says Pridham.

The company’s growing international reach has also enabled the local team to continuously grow over the past decade. Even in the past 18 months, Pridham’s has hired new employees to meet growing demand.

The local auctioneer and appraiser has handled several notable sales over the years, including the sale of a painting by Jean Paul Riopelle for $ 80,000, a small Louis XV Quebec pine cabinet to an Ottawa museum for 106 $ 000 and a Picasso drawing that sold for $ 60,000. Recalling these successes, Robin said: “Our balance sheet is an important part of our business model. It comes from trust, and doing exactly what we say we are going to do.

When asked what 10 years of activity in Ottawa meant to him, Pridham replied that it reminded him of the evolution and development of his team. More personally, it was a symbol of personal perseverance and his willingness to create real relationships with his clients, based on mutual trust. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, especially during a time of unprecedented economic uncertainty, feels like a serious graduation ceremony and a reminder that Pridham’s is well positioned to be Ottawa’s best fine art auction house.
