This project provided a period of research and testing in order for the Gallery to evaluate ways of operating during the time in which the building would be closed for refurbishment. The project was planned to allow the Gallery to develop strategies for working offsite, for exploring links with potential partners, and for working collaboratively. It supported artists to extend their practice, and developed new audiences.

The theme of the pilot residency programme was centred on the building and its development. Four artists were commissioned to produce new works to creatively engage audiences with the changing circumstances of the Storey Gallery caused by development of the Storey Institute building.
The artists were Carl von Weiler, Jane Chavez-Dawson, John Gilbert, and Jason Minsky.
Carl produced a work in the gallery, and the others worked beyond.
